Graeme Ball

Graeme Ball is a freelance director and editor (D.G.C.) with numerous credits in documentary and dramatic productions. Born in Kelowna, B.C. Graeme has always been an avid outdoorsman (whether it be hiking, canoeing, mountain biking or skiing). He turned his interests to adventure filmmaking after graduating from the film program at the University of British Columbia. He wrote, directed, and co-edited the feature documentary YUKONNA, which follows a four-month rafting trip down the Yukon River (National Geographic Explorer, Discovery and C.B.C).

This year he has edited the television series The Naked Archaeologist as well as two feature documentaries: THE EXODUS DECODED and SMALL TOWN GAY BAR (Official selection at Sundance Film Festival). Last year Graeme edited the multi-award winning documentary CONTINUOUS JOURNEY, which received the Golden Conch for best documentary at the Bombay Film Festival and was nominated for ‘Best Documentary Team’ in last years D.G.C. awards. In 2004, Graeme was editor for the Discovery series BLUEPRINT for DISASTER.

Other editing credits include: LILITH ON TOP a feature chronicling Sarah McLachlan's all-female rock n' roll tour; National Geographic’s CRISIS ZONE, a series following the dangerous field work of the physicians involved in Doctors Without Borders (MSF); ACROBATS AND MANIACS, a behind-the-scenes and colourful on-stage examination of Quebec’s Cirque performers; and the award winning television documentary STOLEN LIVES: Children In The Sex Trade.

Graeme has been living in Toronto for the last four years and so joined the Standing Spirit Project without hesitation – he desperately needed a dose of B.C. and an adventure experience with the kind of folks that can appreciate the glory of sacred spaces like the West Coast trail.
